dental services tailored to your needs
Although permanent teeth can often last a lifetime, there are times when teeth can no longer remain in the mouth. During an outpatient procedure known as tooth extraction, your dentist can completely separate the affected tooth from your jaw bone. Although most people do not jump at the chance to have one or more of their choppers taken out of their mouths, this is one of several dental solutions that serves to protect oral and overall health.
At Avana Smile Design we offer expert tooth extractions in Miami using modern techniques for a safe, pain-managed procedure and faster healing.
Tooth Extraction Reasons
- Your doctor has recommended that you get braces or other types of retainers or orthodontia and needs to pull one or more teeth to make room.
- You must make extra space in your mouth for the eruption of wisdom teeth.
- You need to have your wisdom teeth removed because they are impacted or infected.
- Your tooth or teeth are so damaged by decay or trauma that repair with a filling or crown is impossible.
- You have received radiation or chemotherapy to your neck that has destroyed one or more of your teeth beyond repair.
Our friendly Avana Smile Design staff is committed to ensuring that your tooth extractions procedure is as easy and painless as possible. Whatever your reasons may be for needing to have one or more of your teeth removed, our oral professionals and hygienists will put your comfort at the top of our list of priorities.

The Tooth Extraction Process

What are my options after a tooth extraction?
Implants
Dental implants are the best replacement option after an extraction, as they offer a permanent solution to restore oral function in a natural and aesthetically pleasing way. Furthermore, implants are highly effective at maintaining the health and alignment of adjacent teeth, allowing for normal chewing and speaking.
If dental implants are not right for you, there are other tooth replacement options. These include:
Bridges
These pieces of dental hardware are supported by your adjacent healthy teeth, which must be modified to fix the bridge in place. This solution can be used to address the gap that one or more missing teeth leave.
Dentures
These traditional false teeth fit on top of your gum line and can be used to replace one, several or all of your teeth. The drawback to this solution is that your jaw bone will receive no stimulation and will eventually begin to deteriorate. As a result, your dentures will need to be periodically adjusted and eventually replaced.
Tooth Extraction Aftercare

- In spite of the stitches that have been put in place by your doctor or oral surgeon, it is normal for the socket to bleed. Use the gauze pads that were provided by your dental care professional to absorb the drainage, minimize bleeding and promote clotting.
- Leave gauze in place for three to four hours after your tooth extractions procedure, changing to fresh pads when necessary.
- Avoid rinsing, smoking and drinking through a straw for 24 hours.
- Use prescription or over-the-counter painkillers as recommended by your dentist.
- Apply ice to the side of your face at 10-minute intervals as needed to reduce swelling.
- For the first 24 hours, prop your head on pillows when resting to minimize bleeding.
- Gradually resume normal activities after the first 24-hour period.
- Periodically rinse your mouth with a solution of 8 oz. warm water and ½ tsp. salt.
- Brush and floss as you normally would, being careful to avoid the open socket.
- For the first few days, avoid hard or scratchy foods that could irritate the socket.
How much does Tooth Extraction cost in Miami?
In general, you can expect to pay between $75 and $200 for a simple extraction, with potentially more charged depending on the anesthesia that is recommended. A surgical procedure conducted by an oral surgeon to remove an impacted tooth could easily run between $800 and $5,000.
